Chunghwa Telecom Leads G.fast Commercialization
November 19, 2015

Chunghwa Telecom has become the world's first telecom operator to launch G.fast commercial services, which can boost download speed over copper wires to 300 Mbps, reported Commercial Times on November 19. G.fast technology offers data transmission speeds at up to 1Gbps over telephone lines, suitable for old buildings where the installation of fiber-optic cables is costly or not possible. Chunghwa Telecom currently has 1.2 million ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) subscribers, who are expected to benefit from G.fast technology. The company aims to boost the speed of its G.fast services to 1 Gbps by 2020.
